In this research the model of stochastic frontier production for a sample of seven iron mining companies from Australia, South Africa, Brazil and Venezuela in the period 2006 – 2014 was estimated, and analysis of the efficiency of iron mining of Venezuela, compared to those countries was done. To do this first, variables that affect production in the mining of iron are identified. After finding the data and information, adjusting the stochastic frontier model it was performed. Finally, the analysis of the technical efficiency of iron mining in general and Venezuela as a case study was performed. The results revealed that iron mining in general had a setback in terms of technical efficiency, and that the labor was the variable factor that had the greatest weight on the results. With respect to Venezuela, it had a performance of technical efficiency with negative rate in the studied period, which poses to the management of the iron mining of Venezuela, the challenge of improving its efficiency.
