Dr. Danah Boyd, a fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet & Society, explained that posting updates online projects one's identity and reflects the desire to be noticed by everyone. There are posts about one's club gig or the cuteness of one's child. Media expert Steven Johnson said that Facebook paves the way for indiscriminate boasting.
