    • Abstract:
The article focuses on the dangers posed by geotags, which refer to global positioning system (GPS) coordinates added to digital files, which users of the microblogging site Twitter can apply. Geotags are used to locate a person as close as a 10-foot radius. These tags are commonly embedded in GPS-enabled smartphones and once photos taken from such phones are shared, other people can pinpoint the user's location. Despite cases of social-network-related crime, it is said that many women still have a false sense of security involving social media.
