- Abstract:
The article investigates why more and more women are being diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The number of American women ages 20-44 using ADHD meds escalated to 264% in 2010 from 2001, and round 90% of women with the disorder are not even aware they have it. ADHD is largely genetic and is twice as often in boys than in girls. Girls are also less likely to have disruptive types of ADHD. Hallmarks of the disease include daydreaming, forgetfulness and distraction.
